PLAYER-OF-THE-MONTH ANNOUNCED

#13 – Tyler Rollo – Oakville Blades

March 3, 2016, Toronto, Ontario – The OJHL announced today that Oakville Blades forward Tyler Rollo has been named the Gongshow Gear South-West Conference Player-of-the-Month for February after leading the Conference with three game-winning goals during the month.

Rollo recorded points in six of the Blades eight games during February, scoring the game-winner in three of the club’s six victories to help Oakville capture their first Division title since 2007-08. His totals were 7 goals and 13 points in 8 games played and he registered multiple points in four games, including a three point effort in a victory over Whitby, in which he notched the winning goal in double-overtime on the road, and a four point effort in a key conference win over Burlington. Rollo’s five power play points were also tops among all West Division players.

The 18-year old Burlington, Ontario native is a product of the Burlington Eagles Midget ‘A’ program, getting his first taste of OJHL action in 2013-14, playing one game with the Hamilton Red Wings as an affiliate. The previous off-season he had been selected by the Barrie Colts in the 13th round, 255th overall, of the 2013 OHL Priority Selection. He joined the nearby Oakville Blades in 2014-15 and the rookie recorded 17 points in 45 regular season contests, while adding 6 points in 12 post-season contests to finish tied for third on the club in scoring. This season was an eventful one for the young forward. After playing for Team OJHL Nieuwendyk at the 2015 Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge held in Cornwall, Ontario, Rollo earned a spot on Team Canada East that finished in fourth place at the 2015 World Junior ‘A’ Challenge held in Cobourg and Whitby, Ontario, leading the team in scoring at the event. Around the same time, Rollo’s OHL rights were traded from Barrie to Peterborough and he would make his OHL debut, playing three regular season games for the Petes. Back in Oakville, he more than tripled his offensive production, finishing the season second on the club with 24 goals and fourth in overall scoring with 61 points in 43 games.

Anthony Filoso of the Milton Icehawks was runner-up to Rollo as the South-West Conference Player-of-the-Month. The Icehawks second leading scorer this season led the entire conference in scoring with 15 points in 9 games played during February.
